Fiction
Premise, structure, cast, setting and scene-level drafting for novels, novellas and short work.
Workspace
Organize a Writing Project from Premise to Revision
The Write workspace is a full-weight half of the product, not a notes add-on. Projects get planning pages built for their form, a real section hierarchy for drafting, and a revision system that survives the middle of a long manuscript.
The same three categories, adapted
Nonfiction
Argument, audience, evidence plan and chapter architecture for essays, memoir and long-form.
Scholarly
Research question, method, literature register and section-by-section writing for papers and theses.
From premise to finished draft
1. Hold the idea
Keep a premise in the ideas area until it is ready, then convert it into a real project. Nothing is lost while it matures.
2. Plan for the form
Fiction, Nonfiction and Scholarly projects each get planning pages matched to what they are, not one generic outline field.
3. Draft in sections
Parts, chapters and scenes are real sections with their own status and live word counts, so thin stretches are visible.
4. Keep cast and sources close
Characters or interviewees hold their traits, arc and relationships. Basic sources and citations are included on every plan; on Plus and Studio, you choose which sources link to draft sections.
5. Revise in named passes
Fix one class of problem at a time with prioritised flags, instead of rereading the whole manuscript hoping to notice things.
6. Track and export
Goals and sessions record what you actually wrote, and the manuscript exports as Markdown or plain text.
The tools behind each step
Idea bins
Hold a premise until it is ready, then convert it into a real project.
Sectioned drafting
Parts, chapters and scenes with live word counts and per-section status.
Cast register
Characters or interviewees with traits, arc and relationships in one place.
Sources
Basic sources and citations on every plan; on Plus and Studio, choose source-to-section links.
Revision Desk
Named passes and prioritised flags, so revision is a plan rather than a mood.
Goals & sessions
Word and time targets with an honest record of what you actually wrote.
