Terms of Service

1. Your account

You need an account to use the app, you must be at least 13 years old, and the information you give us must be accurate. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account.

2. The service

Notebook Free is available at no cost. Notebook Plus is $10 a month or $100 a year and Studio is $18 a month or $180 a year, each with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers — one trial per account. Payments and subscription management are handled by Stripe. Features may change as the product develops, and we may impose reasonable fair-use limits to keep the service stable. We will not silently remove content you have created.

3. Your content stays yours

You keep all rights in everything you write, record and upload. You grant us only the narrow licence needed to store, back up, process and display your content back to you so the service can function. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not claim rights in your manuscripts, we do not publish them, and we do not use them to train machine-learning models.

4. Our content

The application, its adaptive page frameworks, design and name remain ours. You may not copy, resell or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product from our materials.

5. Acceptable use

Your use must follow the Acceptable Use Policy and the Copyright & Quotation Policy. In particular, do not upload material you have no right to store, and do not reproduce entire copyrighted works.

6. Plans and payment

Notebook Free costs $0. Notebook Plus is $10 per month or $100 per year, and Studio is $18 per month or $180 per year, as described on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are.

Eligible new subscribers to Notebook Plus or Studio receive exactly a 7-day free trial, limited to one trial per account. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan converts to a paid subscription and the first charge is taken then.

Paid plans renew automatically for the same period — monthly or annual — until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Plans & billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep paid access until then. Changing plans takes effect as our payment processor calculates any proration. We will give you notice before any price change affecting a renewal, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.

Payments, payment methods, invoices and subscription changes are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card details. Fees already paid for an elapsed period are not refundable except where the law requires it or where we agree otherwise in writing. Your content is never deleted because a subscription ends; only paid capacity and advanced workflow tools return to Notebook Free levels.

7. Availability and your backups

We work to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Because your work matters, export a full archive of your account periodically from Settings. Keeping your own copy is the surest protection against any failure on our side.

8. Ending the agreement

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. Except for serious or repeated abuse, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to export your work.

9. Disclaimers and liability

Except as expressly stated in these terms, the service is provided without warranties beyond those the law does not allow us to exclude. To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred US dollars. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. When we change these terms materially we update the version above and ask you to acknowledge the change the next time you sign in.
